The palace in Średnia Wieś probably was built by the Bals (the owners of Średnia Wieś) at the beginning of the XVI century. It was a defensive manor. In the XIX century it was inherited by the Łempiccy and the Kuczkowscy. They rebuilt the manor into a gothic palace, in which Henrietta Ewa Ankwiczówna – a Roman A. Mickiewicz’s love, lived for some time. In 1946 the palace was burnt down. Its walls stayed until 1950s. Today on its place there are agricultural buildings and a park surrounded by the scraps of a defensive wall.
