Fredro Aleksander (1793
– 1876) – the
most prominent Polish comedy
writer, the author of
Zemsta
and
Śluby
panieńskie. His
father, Jacek Fredro, was born
in 1770 in Hoczew and later he
became its owner. Aleksander
Fredro visited his family in
the Bieszczady very often. A
travel to Hoczew and Cisna he
described in the diary
